Mike Howe

Owner of A Able Fishing Charters and Tours, has been fishing Flathead Lake, and other area waters, since his arrival in the valley in 1998. The areas trophy Lake Trout fishing was the first thing that caught Mike’s attention, and remains his passion today. Mike lives and breathes the outdoors lifestyle and there is nothing more satisfying to Mike than putting a rod into a customer’s hands that has a true trophy potential mackinaw, northern pike, kokanee salmon or jumbo perch on the other end.

But Mike has more than just a few years guiding experience on his resume. You see, Mike has been in the “customer service” industry for almost 24 years. After a nearly 8 year stretch serving his country in the US Air Force, and experiencing a service connected disability, Mike became a Letter Carrier with the United States Postal Service. After moving to Montana in 1994, he soon became a small town Postmaster, and served the local area in that capacity for 14 years in Kila, Lakeside and Columbia Falls. Mike understands that when you pay for a service, that is what you expect…service.

As an outfitter in a very competitive industry and area such as Montana’s Flathead Valley, Mike understands very well that if you don’t have a positive experience, there are many other fishing guides and outfitters that would love to get you in their boats! That is why, from the quality tackle A Able uses, to the superior condition of the boats, to the “satisfaction guaranteed” work ethic, Mike is confident that once you fish with A Able, you will have an outfitter for life!

Mike and his wife Cindy are very active in the community, and share their love and appreciation of the Flathead Valley, Glacier National Park (The Crown of the Continent) and all that this area has to offer in many ways. They are the Host and Producer of Flathead Outdoors Radio, a weekly outdoor recreation program on 600 KGEZ. This program is sponsored by Snappy Sport Senter, a local business icon in the valley since 1947, and a longtime supporter of all that Mike and Cindy do.

They are very active in the Kalispell, Whitefish, Bigfork, Columbia Falls and Lakeside/Somers Chambers of Commerce and work closely with the Kalispell Convention and Visitor Bureau to bring new business and tourism to the area. They support many local charities, non-profits and fund raising organizations like Kids Hooked on Fishing, Rocky Mountain Elk Foundation, Walleyes Unlimited, Big Wheels Basketball, Fishing Without Barriers and many, many more.

If you are interested in Flathead Lake fishing, lake trout fishing charters, guided ice fishing, Wild Horse Island tours and Flathead Lake tours, Mike and Cindy Howe and the crew at A Able Fishing Charters stand ready to serve you in a manner that you will want to experience again and again. See you on the water!

Clay Anderson

You wanna see his eyes light up? Let’s talk fishing…  As a Montana native, fishing (as well as everything outdoors) runs through Clay’s blood.  This special DNA was passed down from Clay’s father as they spent many years fishing the waters of Western Montana.  He enthusiastically shares fishing stories of the past and present any chance he gets.

Clay’s life dream and passion is and always has been fishing.  All seasons and all species, if it lives in the water and bites, Clay loves reeling them in.  It has been exciting to watch the realization of this dream unfold.

After working as a creel surveyor on Flathead Lake, Clay served as Pro Staff Fisherman on an ICTV outdoor show called “Montana My Back Yard”.  Through these endeavors, he met Mike Howe, and an immediate connection was made.  Clay formally joined Mike as a guide for A Able in 2011.

Clay’s true satisfaction comes from teaching others and seeing families making lifelong memories.  In Clay’s free time he continues to volunteer at camps and local events centered on teaching kids how to fish.  His enthusiasm is so contagious even the fish don’t mind getting hooked by Clay!

Clay and his wife Kayla and their dog Dually live in Kalispell.
